Victoria Beckham is set to make a splash in London. No, she is not rejoining The Spice Girls for a special concert. Rather the wife of soccer great David Beckham and the fashion designer, will be opening a London store in the tony Mayfair District, Examiner has learned. "The 39-year-old former Spice Girl will sell her collections of clothing and handbags from the new shop in Dover Street at the center of the capital's fashion district. Rumours of Beckham's first flagship store have been circulating since April, when Victoria told British Vogue that London would be the perfect location," reported the Daily Mail. She said to Daily Mail: "This is where I want to have my first store. I'd like to do something that is really new, really fresh. Something a little bit conceptual - but not too much."
"Until now, those who have wanted to buy into Beckham's brand have had to go online or to selected fashion outlets and department stores," added The Telegraph."I want to build a business that is going to be here a long time," added Beckham in The Telegraph report.
"The news of the store comes after it was revealed that the Beckhams' business empire turns over almost £100,000 a day," added the British report. "Companies House documents showed that the three companies which handle the couple's business empire recorded a combined turnover of more than £35 million a year."
It seems New York-based celebrity designer Katie Holmes who launched a successful collection Holmes & Yang, has a little friendly competition on the other side of the pond.
