Victor Valley High's Dan Henderson attempts to slay "The Dragon" Lyoto Machida

On a wall in the gym at Victor Valley High School is a picture of Dan Henderson. Henderson is a hero in Victor Valley High School because of his accomplishments in wrestling and in mixed martial arts. He has competed in the Olympics in wrestling and has earned championship titles in the sport of MMA. On February 23, 2013, Henderson will try to add another win to his accomplished MMA career when he faces former UFC Light-heavyweight Champion Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida.

Dan Henderson has fought notable opponents such as former Light-heavyweight Champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Wanderlei Silva, and UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva. Henderson has a win over Rua, the man who beat Lyoto Machida in their second match when Machida was the Light-heavyweight Champion.

Lyoto Machida is the son of Japanese karate master Yoshizo Machida. Machida has a win over Rua (in their first match) and wins over other former UFC champions such as Randy Couture, Rashad Evans, Rich Franklin, BJ Penn, and Tito Ortiz.

Machida and Henderson will fight on February 23, 2013 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA in the co-main event. The main event will feature the first women's match in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship between Champion Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche.
