Sacramento police released the identities of the victims yesterday in the New Year’s Eve shooting that left 2 dead and 2 injured.
As reported on KCRA’s website, Gabriel Cordova was killed and his wife Christina wounded, in the New Year’s Eve shootout that took place at the Sports Corner Café located in Old Town Sacramento, leading to the cancelation of the New Year’s fireworks celebration.
Gabriel was 35 and the father of three children ranging in age from 8 to 18.
In addition to the husband and wife, employee Daniel Ferrier, 36, of Placerville was killed when he tried to intervene, and Stephan Walton, a security guard, was wounded after shooting and wounding the suspect.
KCRA goes on to report that the son of the two victims, Isaiah Cordova, said the shooting was triggered by an argument over spilled drinks.
Apparently his father accidentally spilled a drink on a woman, who then brought three of her friends, which led to the shooting.
Sacramento police have identified Carlito Montoya, 22, of Sacramento as the shooter. Montoya remains hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds at an undisclosed location.
