For so many weeks, it was believes that the Philadelphia Eagles would release quarterback Michael Vick. Three days after the Super Bowl.
Now, it appears that information is wrong. According to Yahoo Sports' Jason Cole, the $3 million dollar roster bonus of his $15.5 million dollar salary will not be guaranteed until March 11th.
It was previously reported that the roster bonus would be guaranteed on February 6th. If true, it gives the Eagles more time to re-think things with new Eagles head coach Chip Kelly on board.
With Kelly as coach, Vick could be willing to re-negotiate his huge contact to stay with the team. While many Eagles fans would like Vick to be released, he is the best quarterback on the current roster that fits Kelly's uptempo spread option offense.
Nick Foles and Trent Edwards are not option quarterbacks. Edwards is expected to leave the team as a free agent in the off-season.
It was once considered a lock that Vick would leave the team, and possibly re-unite with former Eagles head coach Andy Reid in Kansas City. But now, that seems very unlikely.
It appears more like he will stay with the team.
