You might think that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Carrot Top Canelo Alvarez are the two biggest names when it comes to young boxers of Mexican heritage.
But Hollywood swinger Vicious Victor Ortiz may put the son of the legend and the popular Alvarez in the shade when it comes to being recognized beyond the thimble sized world of harcore fight fans.
Ortiz, prepping for a February rematch with Andre Berto and coming off a controversial TKO loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr., is all over TMZ and other gossip related sites regarding pulsating rumors that the Kansas born bachelor, now residing in Ventura where the surfing is excellent, is dating the beautiful estranged wife of Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant.
Vanessa Bryant, who nearly kicked baller Kobe to the curb for ealier indiscretions, filed for divorce in California recently citing the usual "irreconciliable differences."
Ortiz told TMZ that he doesn't even know Vanessa, whose parents are both of Mexican heritage, and his manager told The Los Angeles Times the boxer prefers "Midwestern blondes."
Ortiz may need an admission ticket to get into the International Boxing Hall Of Fame when his ring career is over.
But you might already say he's "a worthy successor" to a young Oscar de la Hoya, going back to when the "Golden Boy" was boxing's biggest playboy.
I don't know if Kobe Bryant is jealous because of the romantic rumors but I think Mr. Berto might be.
Merry Christmas to one and all.
