VHS sequel S-VHS headed for Sundance 2013

Fans of last Halloween's found footage anthology fright fest "V/H/S" will be thrilled to know that the sequel is already set for release. "S-VHS" was announced for Sundance 2013, and will premiere at Park City’s Library Center Theatre on Saturday night.

Following the footsteps of the original, the sequel boasts an impressive lineup of talented directors to direct the film's segments. Directors on board include: Jason Eisener ("Hobo With A Shotgun"), Gareth Huw Evans ("The Raid: Redemption") and Timo Tjahjanto ("Macabre"), Edúardo Sanchez ("The Blair Witch Project") and Gregg Hale ("The Blair Witch Project"), as well as Simon Barrett and Adam Wingard ("You’re Next").

Brad Miska, cofounder of the horror website Bloody Disgusting and one of the producers of the "V/H/S" movie series, told Entertainment Weekly, “We had internally joked about how hilarious it would be to actually have 'S-VHS' premiere at the Toronto Film Festival before the first one came out... But we thought that would be incredibly disrespectful to Magnolia, so we didn’t do that.”

Miska promises audiences that "S-VHS" will have much larger scope, trading in the gritty indie feel of last year's "V/H/S" for a "really big and apocalyptic and end of the world-ish" feeling. A teaser clip has surfaced, and it looks like we're definitely gonna have zombies. Read the rest of the interview and watch the exclusive teaser trailer at Entertainment Weekly: Inside Movies.

The film synopsis on iMDB.com says, "Searching for a missing student, two private investigators break into his house and find collection of VHS tapes. Viewing the horrific contents of each cassette, they realize there may be dark motives behind the student's disappearance."
