Vhong Navarro, who is a celeb in the Philippines as the host of ABS-CBN's noontime variety show "It's Showtime," is accused of raping a young woman. This story has saturated the headlines of his country. As more is revealed of what went on the night that he is accused of raping a 22-year-old girl, questions of an extortion attempt are bubbling up, according to The Rappler on Jan. 26.
What would usually be a he-said, she-said case when it comes to a date rape, the girl just happened to have a group of friends stop by just as she reports struggling and crying for Navarro to stop. These friends not only made a citizen’s arrest, but they carted him off to the nearest police station.
Navarro’s story differs greatly from his accuser, but he doesn’t have any witnesses to collaborate what he is saying. The actor said he was invited to the unnamed student’s apartment and when he got there he was blindfolded, tied up and beaten by six men. He is due to have surgery to fix broken bones, which is his account of the story.
The alleged victim reports that Navarro wouldn’t take no for an answer the night in question. Her story alleges she was home alone when the actor arrived at about 10:30 p.m. local time. He preceded to “hold her hand, pulling her hair and forcing her down.”
She alleges she was able to get away and run into her room. Navarro allegedly followed her and he forced her down on the bed. This is when she reports he pulled down her short pants. Navarro was then on top of the alleged victim and she was begging him to stop when a group of her friends came over.
This is when they reportedly contained him with the citizen’s arrest and whisked him off to the police station.
The report indicates that this is how the actor got the injuries, as the woman's friends tried to help her. When Navarro first gave a report on his injuries, it sounded as if he was the victim. Then the police blotter indicated that a 22-year-old girl had filed a complaint that he tried to rape her.
He reported the incident of the six men beating him up on the same night that the woman reported he tried to rape her. This gives police an awful lot of information to sort through to get to the bottom of this.
Now the victim is no longer interested in pressing charges. Navarro is due to undergo surgery from the beating he took from the six men who allegedly tied him up in her apartment. He is suffering with “contusion hematoma around his eyes, forehead, chin and some parts of his extremities," according to his doctor,” reports Rappler.
Is this part of an extortion plan for the celebrity who should have a good chunk of money saved up from his celeb status? Why did this woman all of the sudden change her mind, was there money involved with that somehow? It is very hard to get to the bottom of these two very different and polarized accounts about what happened the night Navarro went to the girl's house.
What really did happen at that woman's condo last week?
