Accompanied by her family, Deniece Cornejo, one of the five accused in the serious illegal detention case filed by actor Vhong Navarro, surrendered herself to PNP Chief Alan Purisima this afternoon, May, 5, 2014. The TV and print ad model who was wearing jeans and polo shirt was escorted by several PNP officials while she underwent booking at the Philippine National Headquarters.

Based on the latest report, she was put behind bars at Camp Crame in Quezon City, three hours after she surrendered to the authorities, on Tuesday, Deniece will be presented to Judge Paz Esperanza Cortez of the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 271. Her submission to the authorities is the subject of conversation in print and social media today, according to some observers, Deniece should tell the real story behind the mauling incident for her to become a state witness.

After hearing the issue, some netizens said the court should not allow her to testify because of the solid evidence gathered and presented by the NBI. The issue was also discuss by some media personalities, according to them, Deniece should be given the chance to testify against her group because they believe that she is also a victim.

Before her surrender, some observers claim that she was also in Oras, Eastern Samar where the authorities arrested her co-accused Cedric Lee and Zimmer Raz, but based on an information given to some PNP officials this afternoon, she was just hiding in the metro. Meanwhile, in an exclusive report given by Oscar Oyda, one of the ace news reporters of GMA-7, Deniece Cornejo was already in the court, according to Oscar, the TV and print ad model was escorted by several PNP officials.

Oscar Oyda added that she will be presented to Judge Paz Cortez. Aside from Deniece, her co-accused Cedric and Zimmer, who are now in the hands of the National Bureau of Investigation, will also be transported and presented to Judge Cortez of the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 271 at around 1 p.m today (Philippine time). In an interview with reporters several days ago, Atty. Alma Mallonga, lawyer of Vhong Navarro, confirmed that she will be attended the hearing along with the actor-TV host.
