“The Buzz” surprised its viewers when it featured Deniece Cornejo’s attempted suicide incident inside the CIDG detention cell this morning, July 13, 2014. Deniece is currently detained at the CIDG/ATCU at Camp Crame in Quezon City due to a serious illegal detention case filed by actor-TV host Vhong Navarro. Based on Atty. Salvador Panelo’s explanation on “The Buzz,” Deniece slashed her wrists in protest of the dismissal of a rape complaint she filed against the actor-TV host several months ago.

The lawyer added that Deniece slashed her wrists to call attention to injustice she is suffering from and as a symbolic protest against the anomalous dismissal of her rape complaint. Atty. Salvador Panelo insisted that the rape complaint was already withdrawn by her client last July 4. According to him; Deniece withdrew her second rape complaint to focus on her defense on the serious illegal detention and perjury cases filed by Vhong Navarro against her.

He confirmed that Deniece is still in shock why she is languishing in jail despite the fact that she is a victim of rape. The lawyer added that her client believes that Vhong Navarro is using his power in the movie industry to influence the media. Aside from Deniece Cornejo who is languishing in jail, Zimmer Raz and Cedric Lee, the alleged mastermind in the mauling incident that changed the actor’s life are also in jail. Unfortunately, the two are in the air-conditioned facility of the National Bureau of Investigation.

They are enjoying their stay there according to some observers who are following this controversial case. There are reports that confirm their transfer to Taguig City Jail, but like what the reports said, the judge is still weighing and examining the issue. Judge Paz Esperanza Cortez has already inspected the city jail two months ago to determine whether the alleged threats against Cedric and Zimmer are true or not.
