Veteran trainer to head strength & conditioning camp for high school footballers

Veteran trainer Mike West will direct a 4-week strength- training and conditioning camp for East Bay high school football players starting March 19 at Bay Area Family Fitness Center located at 4250 Rosewood Drive in Pleasanton. 

The camp will feature intensive bootcamp-style workouts designed to condition young athletes for the upcoming football season and will include speed, agility, and endurance training together with sports-specific weight training. Participants will meet every Monday and Wednesday from 4-5 P.M.

Cost of the camp is just $80 for BAFFC members and $120 for non-members. 

West, 36, has been training for more than a decade at fitness facilities such as Bally’s Total Fitness, 24-Hour Fitness, and Excel Personal Training. Certified by the National Association of Sports Medicine , the Aerobics & Fitness Association of America, and APEX Fitness.  He now trains at Bay Area Family Fitness and is CEO of Mike West Fitness, a private personal training business serving the entire Bay Area. Many amateur and professional athletes have benefited from his training expertise over the years.

At 6’1 and 250 lbs, West has won a host of natural (drug-free) powerlifting and bodybuilding titles during his career and is author of the popular book Train Like a Champion available through his website
