Veteran searches for dog who was lost during injury car accident

Update 4/21/14 from Pets for Patriots:

UPDATE: NINA IS FOUND!
A woman found her on Saturday about 1/2 mile from the accident site. She had no idea of who she was until she turned on the news, and will deliver Nina to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay tomorrow so that Nina can be cared for until Luke is out of the hospital.

According to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, in Fla., a reward is offered for information leading to the safe return of a dog who disappeared following an injury car accident.

Nina, a young German shepherd mix, disappeared on Thursday evening when her guardian, Luke Macner, was involved in a serious car crash at Causeway Blvd and 41.

According to WTSP News, the accident left the disabled veteran with injuries that required him to be hospitalized. He told the news agency:

"I'm lost without the dog. I really am,"

The one-and-a-half-year-old dog had just been adopted by Macner through the Pets for Patriots program. She is microchipped and was last seen wearing a lime green collar and leash - there is a $1,000 reward offered by the Humane Society of Tampa Bay for information leading to her safe return.

If you see Nina or believe you know where she is please call the shelter immediately at 813.876.7138 or email tips to communications@humanesocietytampa.org.
