The Baltimore Ravens may be very close to losing a key player. As first reported by NFL.com on Wednesday, 11-year veteran safety Ed Reed is close to joining the Houston Texans. Although Reed is 34-years old, he will be a valuable addition to the Texans who would welcome the leadership.
Reed communicated the possible signing through a text message saying that the deal is not completed but he is planning on it happening.
"Nothing official, but unless something changes, yes."
The five-time first-team All-Pro will replace Glover Quin who the Texans lost through free agency and overall Reed just feels it is time to move on. Reed, if agreed, will sign a two-year deal and will get to join an defense lead by defensive linemen J.J. Watt and linebacker Brian Cushing who texted NFL.com's Alber Breer of his excitement to be playing alongside someone who he has idolized.
Ed Reed has 61 career interceptions and 605 total tackles over his 11-year career with the Baltimore Ravens.
