The Hollywood Reporter reported today that veteran British actor Nigel Davenport has passed away at age 85. He died on Oct. 25.
Davenport starred in over 40 films during his career. He was in such films as "A Man for All Seasons," "Chariots of Fire," "Mary Queen of Scots," "A High Wind in Jamaica," "Caravaggio," the controversial British film "Peeping Tom," and Van Helsing in the 1973 version of "Dracula."
He has starred in many British TV shows like "The Adventures of Robin Hood," "The Saint," "Keeping Up Appearances," "Howards' Way," and as King George III in "Prince Regent."
Davenport also had a large stage career, he was the founding member of the English Stage Company at the Royal Court. He was once the president of the British Actors' Equity Associated too during his lifetime.
Actor Jack Davenport is his son.
