Vet: Conn. Cop said 'I cannot wait to get the order to kick your door in'

John Cinque, a Navy veteran who told Connecticut lawmakers last year he would not comply with the state's new gun control law, told Connecticut gubernatorial candidate Joe Visconti that a Branford police officer said he couldn't "wait to get the order to kick your door in," Freedom Outpost reported Saturday, citing a YouTube video posted Friday.

"I live in Branford, and his words straight out were 'I cannot wait to get the order to kick your door in,'" he told Visconti.

Freedom Outpost's Tim Brown said Cinque provided the name of the officer in the incident, and posted a screenshot of the comment he said was made on Facebook.

The officer, identified as Joseph Peterson, reportedly said: "I give my left nut to bang down your door and come for your gun."

According to Brown, Peterson has served for a number of years and is said to be "a long time friend" of Cinque's.

We reached out to the Branford Police Department but have not yet received a response.

Cinque also told Visconti his encounter with pro-gun control GOP lawmakers has caused him to distrust Republicans as well as Democrats.

According to Cinque, state Rep. David Yaccarino, a Republican, told him the Second Amendment was put in place to let the colonists attack British troops.

"I'm a Republican," Cinque said. "But I don't trust the Republicans either, at the state or the federal level."

"This whole Progressive movement has bitten everyone, and that's what it comes down to," he added.

Visconti said he decided to run even as Gov. Malloy was signing the new gun control bill into law.

"I got into the race April 4th, as the governor was signing the bill, because for me, it was the last straw," he said.

Update: The officer involved has been placed on leave pending an investigation. More on that story here.
