San Diego-based, InfoSonics Corporation has done it again.

The forward thinking manufacturer of smartphones and devices has released their new verykool s505 Spark. It's a smartphone loaded with features and power. It also comes in at a price point of under $200 and there is no contract or hidden charges.

This Android phone is slick.

The Spark is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad processor and runs Android 4.2, aka "Jelly Bean." While the operating system will be upgradable to Android 4.4 or Kit Kat, the current version ran my apps just fine. The phone's boot time is also ultra-quick and battery life is what you get from Samsung and NTC Android phones.

The modern design is complemented by a preloaded Personal Safety Services application that will give you instant access to assistance and help in case of an emergency. This would be great for kids, college students or anyone who needs this extra peace of mind.

“We understand that the future of the industry is dependent upon our ability to offer robust applications that provide tools and resources that are important for our work and daily lives,” said Joseph Ram, InfoSonics president and chief executive officer. “We are on the forefront of this trend as exemplified by partnering with MobileTREC to bring their patented safety platform to verykool users. We believe our goal to provide the best value to our customers is met by the Spark, which combines smart functionality with an elegant design and one of the most advanced safety features available–all at a very affordable price.”

Not familiar with MobileTREC?

MobileTREC is a platform that allows its users to text to 911 when in danger or in a crisis. This one-touch response means there is a single help button to push in case of trouble. Other important features include a family locator with GPS tracking capabilities, so you will know where your family members are at a given moment.

Those who purchase the s505 Spark will receive a free 30-day trial of MobileTREC’s safety platform.

InfoSonics lists the specs of the s505:

3G HSPA+ 21 Mbps DL, 5.6 Mbps UL; 3G (850/1900/2100 and 850/1700/2100); 2G (850/1900)
