Versionism is one of the last tragedies of the Christian Church. We no longer have one recognized Bible. We have a multiplying number of different versions none of which is said to be final. Bible publishers will no doubt continue to take the merchandising opportunities in the battle for the Bible, while Christians and local churches will continue to choose their own Bible.
Many have rejected the certainty of the promised preserved, inspired Word of God, for the uncertainties of evolving versions based upon the changing opinions of modern scholarship. They have sold their spiritual birthright for a mess of modern version potpourri.
The Bible is God's Book. He gave it by inspiration. "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness : That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works" (2 Timothy 3:16-17). The words of Scripture are God's Words. But not only did God give His words to man, He also promised to "preserve them"(Psalm 12:6-7). I believe that we have a perfectly preserved words of God in our 1611 King James Bible, also called the "Authorized Version" or KJV. Today, hundreds of books call themselves Bibles. But they all cannot be the words of God. There is one Book (comprised of 66 books) that is God's perfectly preserved words in English and that is the King James Version.
All of the other modern versions which is "versionism" at its highest degree do one thing that God warns us about in Revelation 22:18-19, not to "add to" or "take away from" His words. This prophecy does not only pertain to the Book of Revelation but to the whole Book (39 Old Testament and 27 New Testament) of the Bible.
This is a fact, modern "versionism" downgrades or denies the Deity of Jesus Christ, the Virgin birth of Jesus Christ, the Blood of Jesus Christ, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the reliability of the Word of God.
As a Creationist I believe the King James Version tells us clearly the God created in the beginning the universe (singular) and the earth (singular). "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth" (Genesis 1:1). All other modern versions say, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth". The word "heavens" mean more than one. God only created space for where to place the earth He created on the first day of Creation (Genesis 1:1-5). On the second day of creation He created the next "heaven" (atmosphere) around the earth (Genesis1:6-8). God is a God of order not chaos.
Modern Bible versions that are missing God's words go all the way back to manuscripts written in Alexandria, Egypt. Only about 44 of them have been found. Most are little scraps of paper or a few pages long. Three of them look like huge Bibles. They contain the New Testament, and the Old Testament, and even have apocryphal books mixed in (They are called Sinaiticus, Vaticanus, and Alexandrinus). The men who wrote them thought they could make God's words "better". So they added some words, phrases, and even whole books. And they also took away other words, whole verses and even some entire chapters! Shame on them! What they needed to do was to leave God's Word alone. Not mess with it!
God has giving a blessing to them that keep His Word and not deny His Name. "I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it : for thou has little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name" (Revelation 3:8).
