For Milan Fashion Week, Donatella Versace created a collection which she called "Rock Chick" according to The Independent.
It was all the things you would expect from Versace and more. Form fitted bustiers in mesh, velvet coats and skirts emblazoned with Byzantine crosses and shifts with metal insets. Cleverly placed chains highlighted many of the designs creating revealing surprises.
Skirts were over the knee and jackets were form fitted. Vivid colors of cobalt and orange popped over a sea of black.
Oversized purses carried the same theme images as the clothing, with Byzantine crosses and logo letters splashed across the accessory items. Boots were the footwear of choice, with fishnet boots carrying over the mesh theme.
The designs were highly reflective of the earlier work of Donatella Versace's brother Gianni. It seems clear however, that Donatella has truly come in to her own. The collection was vivid and had a self-assured quality brought about by time.
Customers will absolutely love the scrambled logo pieces. Who could pass up an opportunity to tell the world you are in fact wearing Versace?
These pieces will translate well to the consumer. The Oscars will surely have some Versace designs gracing the red carpet. Bets are on that Angelina Jolie who is a fan, just might be wearing one of their looks. She recently appeared in a black off-the-shoulder gown by the designer for the Sarajevo premiere of her film In The Land of Blood and Honey.
Add some rock to your closet stock. Try on some edgy Versace pieces for Autumn/Winter 2012.
