Bostonians are more than ready for spring, and this week Verrill Farm, in Concord, announced its spring schedule of events and farm stand hours. Crops will be planted soon and April will arrive with a busy Spring Vacation week of cooking classes and Easter Sunday. From their press release:
Verrill Farm school vacation cooking classes have become very popular because Kevin and the kitchen staff make them fun and because kids leave with tips and skills they can show off and use at home! During this Spring vacation, April 18 - 22, there will be four kid’s cooking classes. Classes are approximately 1.5 hours, take place in the farm stand kitchen and are limited in size - so sign up soon! $25.00 per child. Reservations & prepayment required. Call 978.369.4494.
Cooking with Kevin - Supper from Start to Finish

Chef Kevin Carey’s kid's classes are geared for kids and include demonstrations and hands on participation. In April, kids will make a family meal including chicken, a vegetable and dessert. (Check the web site for additional details soon.) To round out the family meal preparation, kids will learn how to set the table. When class let out, the future chefs leave with skills to use at home and the dining room!
Baking with the farm stand staff

Jen Verrill-Faddoul & the bakery staff teach a hands on baking class & share some of their secrets along the way! Kids will make Whoopie Pies - from the classic Chocolate & Vanilla to popular variations. Kids will take their masterpieces home.
April 24: Easter Sunday
Stand open 9 am - noon
Verrill Farm’s Easter menu features a spiral cut ham, side dishes and several kinds of quiches. Delectable desserts are always part of a holiday menu and Verrill Farm has many to choose from including Berry Cream Cake, Lemon Silk Pie and Carrot Cake. Whether you are entertaining at home or bringing a hostess gift, a Verrill Farm dessert will be a welcome addition at the table.
The holiday menu will be available on line and at the stand in early April; orders must be placed by April 21 for pick up on April 23.
Scones, muffins and other baked goods for a holiday buffet will be available leading up to and on Easter Sunday. The stand will be open for last minute shopping from 9 am - noon on Easter Sunday.
Verrill Farm, 11 Wheeler Road, Concord, is open 7 days from 9 am to 7 pm; 9 am - noon on Easter Sunday, April 24. Verrill Farm’s schedule of Summer events starts in May with a Mother’s Day Brunch on May 8 and the Asparagus Festival on May 28.
