It is official, thanks to fans, Veronica Mars is moving from the cancelled little screen of television to the big screen of movies. The movie is set to begin filming this summer and fans couldn't be happier, after all, the film is being made off the funds raised by fans on Kick Starter. Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell are already onboard and ready to go. Max Greenfield is also excited to reprise the role of deputy Leo according to an article posted at E Online March 18, 2013.
Greenfield's direct quote according to the article was that "he'd take no pay and fly himself to the set." A far cry from the lovable douchbag we have grown to adore on 'New Girl'. The rest of the cast is not set yet. Rob Thomas (creator) cannot confirm anyone else until they have signed contracts but it sounds like verbally many of our favorites are onboard or at least interested.
The movie takes place ten years in the future, Veronica Mars returns to Neptune for her 10 year class reunion. Because the movie is fan funded there will be no big surprises, however, it is known that Mars is no longer a PI and her intent on returning for the reunion is to get back to her roots.
Who would you like to see return for the movie? Are you excited to see a project like this become a reality? Feel free to leave a comment below with your thoughts.
If you are interested in contributing to the movie the Kick Starter campaign is in effect until April 12, 2013 and fans have already contributed over $3.6 million dollars. For more information you can visit the campaign here.
