Veronica Mars' Jason Dohring cast in Supernatural

Guy Norman Bee, regular Supernatural director, announced via twitter today that Jason Dohring (Logan, Veronica Mars), has been cast in an episode of Supernatural, which he regularly directs episodes of. Bee has directed Dohring in two roles before, his most recent experience coming with Dohring's recurring role in The CW's Ringer starring fantasy genre alum Sarah Michelle Gellar. Unfortunately, Bee will not be directing this particular episode of Supernatural.

According to tvline, Dohring will be portraying Chronos, God of Time in the 12th episode of the season, airing in mid-January. No word on how many episodes he's slated for, but according to some of Bee's later comments on twitter as well as Supernatural's casting history, this is most likely a one episode deal.

This is the fifth major casting coup this season so far. Jewel Staite (Firefly, Stargate: Atlantis), while only featured in one episode, has been a major plot point in the show for many episodes now. Buffy and Angel alums Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) and James Marsters (Spike) guest starred as dueling witch spouses in a particularly fun episode. Most recently, Michael Hogan (Colonel Tigh, Battlestar Galactica) stopped by for a few scenes in one of the best episodes of the season, Slash Fiction. The show has a stellar record of casting beloved cult TV actors and this time is no exception.
