Fayetteville WV was the place to be this weekend. Cantrell’s ultimate rafting proved to be the hotspot once again. For many in the community rafting season doesn’t truly start until VPOC and/or the Yetti play their first show in town. Friday night in Fayetteville was quiet and no one came out for any local fun as they were all resting up for the VPOC show. This was commented on numerous times on facebook and showed when the large crowd of excited people packed into Cantrell’s Saturday night.
For those of you who don’t already know these local boys they are an excellent Reggae funk band with a splash of Blue grass and an exciting arrangement of songs you just can’t help but dance to. They started playing together in 2001 and since have become one of West Virginias favorite live bands. They have played in every major city in the state as well as many festivals. You can find free down loads of their music at www.archive.org/details/VernsPotOChiliand www.myspace.com/vernspotochili.
Once they started to play there was no holding people back. The dance floor quickly came alive with moving feet. They were accompanied by a brass section, smoke machine and full lights show. Neil Jones and Ian Lutz wowed the crowed with their singing and banging the drums. Jason Johans rocked the ukulele while Dan freeman and Neil jammed the guitars and Charlie Hatcher backed it up and gave it some soul playing the bass. Even the bartender Carolyn was dancing and cheering.
Vern’s Pot O Chili played their best originals and a few covers. Some top favorites of the crowd were “Red line train”, “Jesus was a coal miner” and “Baby baby use me”. VPOC rocked the house till 2am and left the crowd wanting more.
