Vermont woman's pigs must go (Video)

A Vermont town told a woman that her pigs must go, according to a Jan. 6 Click on Detroit report. Florence Gruber and Alan Tsefrekas keep between 30 and 40 potbellied pigs in their home as pets. Unfortunately, Essex, Vermont has decreed that they are farm animals rather than pets.

How sad that this woman's pigs must go. If they are her pets, she obviously cares about them. Many people keep potbellied pigs as pets. However, most people do not keep dozens of these creatures as pets in their houses.

The pigs living with Florence Gruber use litter boxes much like cats do. However, unlike cats, they tend to weigh between 50 and 100 pounds when they are full grown. Even so, are you surprised that Essex, Vermont has decided this woman's pigs must go? What would you do if the town or city you live in decided that your pets were not really pets? Would you get rid of them, or would you move?

Right now, Gruber has her pigs up for adoption. Hopefully she will find good homes for them. She has until Jan. 22 to re-home her pets.
