Vermont is a state that encourages partnerships between farmers, food producers and chefs to work together to build regional connections. This contributes not only to stronger community ties but economic stability.
What qualifies as a Vermont Product?
A Vermont food product is defined by the following three components:
The company selling the product
A substantial amount of the work has to be done in Vermont
Where it was manufactured
If the product is substantially transformed then the process must be done in Vermont.
The ingredients
There are three cases when the food must be from Vermont:

When the word Vermont is being used in the products ingredient (e.g. Vermont Maple Syrup) -
Products with one primary ingredient such as cheese -
If the product is untransformed (e.g. milk before it becomes cheese)
Vermont is known for its quality products and beautiful landscapes that include working farms and working farmers. The Vermont Fresh Network is dedicated to promoting and publicizing Vermont chefs and restaurants that use Vermont grown and produced foods. Open fields and scenic landscapes attract tourists and help support the quality of life that Vermonters cherish. When chefs purchase products locally they help support the local economy.
Vermont Fresh Network educates consumers and tourists who come to visit Vermont. The Vermont Fresh Network’s website lists restaurants and other Vermont grown foods. Through this site they offer the traveler our concept of cuisine tourism. The Vermont Fresh Network promotes local Vermont farms so that they can continue working and keep the green spaces open.
