Verizon Wireless releases Motorola Droid Xyboard Android tablets

The latest line of Android Honeycomb powered tablet computers hits the market today, as Verizon Wireless begins taking orders for an array of Motorola Droid Xyboard models on their website.

Columbus Verizon customers need to take note, as these tablets are fully able to access Big Red's 4G LTE network available here in town. Yesterday's 4G network outage was cleared up by 10AM anyway!

Motorola Droid Xyboard models

The Droid Xyboard comes in five different models. The two 8.2-inch versions sport either 16GB or 32GB of memory and retail for $429.99 and $529.99 respectively. Their three 10.1-inch big brothers add a 64GB version and retail for $529.99, $629.99, and $729.99.

Of course, those prices require a two-year contract with an associated data plan. The data plans range from $30 per month for 2GB to $80 for 10GB in addition to the regular access charges. Terminating the contract early results in an $350 fee.

Dual Core Droid Xyboard - with a stylus!

Motorola's definitely produced a competitive Android tablet computer with the Droid Xyboard. Powered by a Dual Core processor, the Xyboard also sports two cameras, and most of the standard high-end tablet features, including mobile hotspot capability and 1080p video mirroring.

The unique inclusion of a stylus makes good use of the high-quality scratch resistant touchscreen and included handwriting recognition software. This might placate Android fans waiting for the Samsung Galaxy Note to make its North American appearance.

Anyone in the market for a tablet this holiday season needs to check out the Motorola Droid Xyboard, especially Columbus residents able to access Verizon's 4G LTE network.
