Verizon to launch LTE service in 5 new markets; expanding in 3

Today, Verizon Wireless announced that it will be launching its 4G LTE service in five new cities, and it will be expanding its network in three others on January 19.

Verizon's 4G LTE network will be turned on in Glen Falls and Utica, NY; Lawton, Oklahoma; and Brownsville and McAllen, Texas. The LTE networks of Atlanta, Houston, and Spokane, Washington will be expanded on January 19.

According to the press release, after the launch on January 19, over 200 million Americans in 195 cities will have access to Verizon's LTE network, which they tout has "blazingly fast speeds", and from my experience, they're not lying..

As David Small, Chief Technical Officer at Verizon, said:

As we enter 2012, Verizon’s 4G LTE network remains the largest by far in the United States, and we continue to grow the network and bring Verizon’s unparalleled 4G LTE services to more and more people.

Also, Verizon leads the pack in offering LTE devices, with a huge selection that was just expanded at CES 2012, including the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7

Although the people in Princeton aren't affected by this expansion, they are glad to see Verizon Wireless expanding their 4G LTE network though. Many have already experienced the speed of 4G LTE and have been wowed.
