Verizon will hire 350 more people in addition to the 750 new positions announced about one year ago in Lake Mary. This means 1,100 new jobs in Lake Mary. The new personnel will staff Verizon’s new $50 million, 220,000 square foot finance center, according to an April 25 release from the Office of Governor Rick Scott.

In the release, Governor Rick Scott was quoted as saying, “Today’s announcement of 350 new jobs means that more Floridians will be able to find a meaningful job with a great company,” said Governor Rick Scott.

“This is good news. I am always pleased when a company hires more people. It helps people like me who work in the restaurant industry and need people to go out and spend money,” said Barbara Rhoades, a waitress.

“I hope this company continues to expand. We need more jobs in the area,” said Martin Simmons.
