Verizon Wireless customers in Columbus and across their network are without 4G LTE network access this morning due to an outage. Also, Facebook begins the worldwide rollout of their controversial new Timeline profile feature.
Verizon 3G data and text/calls unaffected by 4G LTE outage
Verizon Wireless first reported the outage late yesterday after receiving complaints from irate customers. This reporter verifies that 3G data is unaffected, and calling and texting functionality is behaving as normal.
Big Red's excellent network engineering staff are on the issue and 4G LTE users in Central Ohio and elsewhere can expect full service to return sometime today.

Facebook Timeline rollout begins
The day many Facebook users continue to dread has arrived with reports afoot about Facebook's new Timeline profile feature appearing for users in New Zealand. The profile change is expected to hit U.S. shores any day now.
Timeline, as its name reveals, converts a Facebook user's profile into a graphical representation of their entire life, featuring a date-sorted array of photos, likes, and friend activity. Some pundits claim that users will love the new feature, but considering the typical gnashing-and-thrashing that accompanies any Facebook interface change, placing even more user content for easy public display should aggravate many users and privacy experts.
Hopefully, Facebook will give their users the ability to opt-out of the new Timeline profile, but given Facebook's quest to generate page views and ad revenue before their public stock offering, don't expect it.
