The Adventure Travel Mexico (ATMEX) trade show got underway in Veracruz with a reception Wednesday night and a conference at the World Center that got underway on Thursday. The show concludes Saturday.
The ATMEX trade show connects adventure travel providers with travel agents, promoters and journalists from all over the world. Organizers note that adventure tourism has been growing by double digits over the past several years despite the continued slowed economy.
Exhibitors packed Veracruz’s modern Word Trade Center show which concludes Saturday evening. By all accounts, the ATMEX show has been a great success. Organizers treated participants to a series of excursion tours showcasing what the region has to offer from history and culture to the adventure travel for which the region is famous.
Veracruz is the natural home for the ATMEX show. Roughly translated, Veracruz means true cross in Spanish. For adrenaline junkies, Veracruz translates into true adventure and it is easy to see why.
The state of Veracruz has about 70% of Mexico’s fresh water. It also is home to the country’s highest mountain. The region’s abundant rivers, forests and varied landscape make it a natural for anyone seeking adventure beyond the norm de rigueur of zip lining.
The greater Veracruz region has about a million people. The city’s capital of the state that shares its name.
