Tuesday, several venues cancelled upcoming concerts for Michelle Shocked after she made several anti-gay slurs at a San Francisco concert on Sunday; Michelle Shocked was once a politically progressive singer and then she turned born-again Christian and shocked many of her own fans with her anti-gay comments, according to the LA Times.
Sunday, during her concert Michelle said: "I live in fear that the world will be destroyed if gays are allowed to marry." Then she went on to say that people would leave the concert and tell others that “Michelle Shocked said God hates gays.” She quickly cleared her own concert, turning off long-time fans.
Michelle Shocked was known as being an outspoken supporter of several liberal causes, and she had once said that she had a vague sexual identity herself. Once, in an interview she stated that she didn’t want to branded as gay, straight or bisexual and that she found those statements oppressive. But Michelle's views have changed drastically.
Over the last several years, Shocked found Jesus and became a born-again Christian. But she shocked fans with her statements on Sunday. Then Tuesday, several venues cancelled her upcoming concerts stating that they were also shocked by her comments.
