The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is only weeks away. While the anticipated sequel kicks off the summer of 2014, Sony has major plans for the friendly neighborhood hero. Following The Amazing Spider-Man 2 are two sequels that will hit theaters in 2016 and 2018. However, Sony plans go beyond the story of Peter Parker as the studio has two spin-offs on the way. As many know by now, the spin-offs to The Amazing Spider-Man will be Venom and The Sinister Six. There is still very little on these upcoming films; well aside from the fact that writer Alex Kurtzman will direct Venom and Cabin in the Woods' Drew Goddard helms The Sinister Six. However, in a new report, fans now have an idea when these two spin-offs will hit theaters.
According to a report from Den of Geek, producer Matt Tolmach mention that while the spin-off do not have official release dates, the movies will hit theaters before The Amazing Spider-Man 4. Tolmach had this to say in the interview:
"We're going to do Sinister Six, Venom and Spider-Man 3. There is going to be a lot of crossover in those movies. So we're just not at Spider-Man 4, because we still have a whole other Spider-Man movie and two other movies. So we don't know yet what [Spider-Man 4] is going to be."
While many questions need to be answered, like who will be in the films and what will trigger these spin-offs, it is safe to say that we will be seeing Venom and the Sinister Six sooner rather then later.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into theaters on May 2. The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is set to hit theaters on June 10, 2016 followed by The Amazing Spider-Man 4; swinging into theaters on May 4, 2018.
