Venezuelan author Maria Gabriela Madrid to be new editor at Voices de la Luna magazine

Venezuela author Maria Gabriela Madrid will be working as a Spanish Editor for Voices de la Luna magazine. Voices de la Luna accepts Spanish written materials that are accompanied by their English translation. Both versions must follow the magazine's submission guidelines. About Maria Gabriela Madrid

Maria Gabriela Madrid was born and raised in Caracas,Venezuela. She studied Education at The Metropolitan University of Caracas,Venezuela, as well as Creative Writing and English as a Second Language at Harvard, Boston, Columbia universities. She received a "Diploma and Honorable Mention" for participating in the XVII Poetry and Narrative contest held by The Instituto de Cultura Peruana, Miami, Florida.

Her book “Entre Los Surcos del Recuerdo” is part of the syllabus for advanced Spanish classes at Saint Mary´s Hall (Private school in San Antonio,Texas) and other university’s libraries across Venezuela and the USA. Her short stories, poems and articles have been published at various literary magazines and anthologies such as "Labrapalabra" a magazine from The University of Texas at San Antonio, "Poetas y Narradores del 2008" , "Poetas y Narradores del 2009" published by The Instituto de Cultura Peruana, Miami,FL ,and "Women Voices/Voces de Mujeres" sponsored by "Mujeres Writing Group" at Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio,Texas.

Her short stories written in English “The Shinny Estrella” and “Why?” were published on “Voices de la Luna” March 2010 and June 2010 editions.

Madrid’s short story titled “Why” was aired on “Texas Matters” National Public Radio (NPR 89.1)

Some others short stories written in Spanish will soon be published on MALA, an Argentinian magazine in their August or September 2010 editions.

Maria Gabriela Madrid has attended and presented her work at several national and international literary festivals. Madrid has been interviewed by several newspapers, magazines, and radio stations. In Caracas, Venezuela, her interviews appeared in “El Universal”, “El Diario de Caracas”, “El Nacional”, and “Unión Radio”. In San Antonio, Texas, she was interviewed for “The San Antonio Express News North Central News” by Rosalind Solís. She has also been interviewed several times by Mayra Calvani from the Latino Book Examiner. Alejandro Rosales Lugo from Matamoros/Brownsville,TX interviewed her for “Ojo de Cíclope”, and she was quoted in the New York Times by Randy Kennedy.

Madrid also appeared in a segment of “Desde San Antonio” conducted by Amparo Ortiz and broadcasted by Univisión.

Madrid is an active member of "Circulo de Escritores de Venezuela",Modern Language Association (MLA), The Society of Latino and Hispanic Writers of SA (SLHW), Miami Writers Association, and National Museum of the American Latino Commission (Austin Welcoming Committed)
