Even though the Super Bowl is coming up and thousands of parties could suffer, there are a lot of other people that could be upset with a Kraft Velveeta shortage. The CSMonitor reported on Jan. 7, 2014, that the Kraft Foods Group, Inc. has indeed confirmed that there is a massive shortage of the very popular cheese-like product.
This is not just a simple Velveeta shortage though. The company is advising customers that it could cause the product to be off of store shelves for quite some time.
“It is possible consumers in any part of the country may not be able to find some Velveeta products on store shelves over the next couple of weeks,” Kraft spokeswoman Jody Moore told NBC News.
One good thing of note is that the Velveeta shortage is still said to be temporary. But there is no definitive timetable for when the shortage should end up being fixed.
There are a number of factors that have led to the problem and they include high demands, growing demand of drivers, and other things.
The Velveeta shortage began in a large number of East Coast grocery stores. There is one Brooklyn-area grocer that has reported they don't expect another shipment of Velveeta to come their way until sometime in the middle of February.
