An amber alert of the canine variety is being put out to people in and around Studio City, Calif., following the theft of a minivan which contained a family's yellow Labrador retriever, reported Monday's Los Angeles ABC 7 News.
The crime took place on Saturday near Ventura Boulevard when a Honda Odyssey minivan, holding a senior dog named "Maru," was stolen.
Maru's guardian, Nayo Mateo, had left the 10-year-old dog inside of the minivan, with the air-conditioning on, for a few moments while he went inside of a store to pick up his wife and two-year-old daughter.
An opportunistic criminal took advantage of the situation and stole the family's Odyssey, with Maru inside.
Now, the family is desperate to find their beloved dog.
Anyone who has spotted the dark blue minivan, license plate No. 6FLL546, and/or the female yellow Labrador retriever, is asked to contact the Los Angeles Police Department.
