Christie Brinkley is a stone fox at 60: Her vegetarian diet and yoga workout

Supermodel Christie Brinkley credits a vegetarian diet, yoga workouts, and scrupulous skincare for her age-defying good looks at 60, she told Health.

“My routine is very simple: I cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize,” said Brinkley. “I use the Olay Regenerist line and Clarins neck cream, and I’m religious about wearing sunscreen daily."

Christie works out almost every day, doing a combination of yoga, strength-training, running and walking to maintain her stunning swimsuit body. She tries to sneak in calisthenic exercises as soon as she wakes up in the morning, and typically does 100 push-ups every day.

Brinkley also loves to do unstructured workouts when she's outside, like bicycling, paddle boarding, surfing, skiing, and swimming. Christie has followed a vegetarian diet since age 12.

Christie typically has oatmeal with mixed berries with breakfast, a large salad with beans and nuts for lunch, and pasta with vegetables for dinner. The 5-foot-9 blonde stunner snacks on dark chocolate, pumpkin seeds, nuts, seeds, soy snacks or Fuji apples with peanut butter.

Vegetarian and Vegan Diets Touted for Anti-Aging and Weight-Loss Benefits

Brinkley joins a long list of celebrity vegans, including Jared Leto, Bill Clinton, Al Sharpton, Michelle Pfeiffer and Samuel L. Jackson. They have all credited the plant-based diet for giving them more energy, helping them lose weight, and staying youthful-looking.

The age-defying effects of a vegan diet are no surprise to Dr. David Katz, director of Yale University's Prevention Research Center. "If you shift to a diet more about plant-based foods, you are likelier to live healthier and experience less chronic disease," said Katz, author of Disease Proof.

Dr. Joel Fuhrman agrees. “The more greens you eat, the more weight you will lose,” said Dr. Fuhrman, author of The End of Dieting.

Brinkley said her biggest beauty secret to too avoid too much sun, because it causes wrinkles and age spots. "When I started modeling I was told to tan, but I always protected my face," she said. "I also drink tons of water to keep my skin hydrated.”

“I exfoliate my body from top to bottom; that’s my thing. I moisturize with Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Milk Soufflé Body Crème, and I receive so many compliments on the scent that I also wear it as my fragrance.”

While most celebrities dread getting older, Christie has embraced aging, saying she has become more comfortable in her skin. Brinkley, who has been divorced four times, said her primary motivation for staying healthy isn't vanity, but a desire to be around for her kids.

"Because I'm an older mom, I have a responsibility to my kids as well as myself," she said. "I want to be there for them."
