The answer to great Chinese takeout for vegetarians lies in Rowland Heights, California. Happy Veggie Garden is a small Chinese restaurant located in the 99 Ranch Market. A place you may not even notice unless you knew what you were looking for.

Chinese Food for Vegetarians

Grabbing Chinese takeout as a vegetarian can be pretty confining. Most Chinese restaurants limit a vegetarian to broccoli in oyster sauce (if you're willing to overlook the oyster component), rice with vegetables, Buddha's delight and veggie lo mein. Some spring rolls and/or egg rolls are vegetarian, but not all. There is also the occasional tofu dish, but there is only so much tofu a person can eat.

The extensive menu at Happy Veggie Garden contains nearly every item found at your average Chinese restaurant, with one exception. There is no meat, fish or poultry in any of their dishes. Taking the vegetarian version of everything from shrimp to beef they have given vegetarians the extensive menu they deserve.

Soups and Appetizers

The menu boasts items like Hot and Sour Soup that is full of flavor with just enough heat, Deep Fry Vege 'Pork' Chops with their own special sauce that compliments the flavor wonderfully and even a Vege Seafood Soup.

Noodles and Rice

The menu has over a dozen items under Rice and Noodles including Fried Spinach Noodles , Vege Beef Noodle Soup, Vege Chicken Curry with Rice and Steamed Veggie Dumplings are just a few of the choices

Traditional favorites such as beef with broccoli, sweet and sour chicken and Kung Pao chicken join more unique dishes such as Vege Pan Fried Fish, Steamed Vege Scallop with Cucumber and Vege Sweet and Sour Ribs. All are made from mushroom, soy or taro. For those who are into tofu there are also a number of dishes full of flavor that feature tofu as the main protein.
