Las Vegas is known for their wicked pool season where resorts go all out to out party their competition. Wet Republic at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino is throwing the first punch and will welcome Grammy Award-winning DJ Calvin Harris. He will kick off his exclusive DJ residency Sunday, April 7. The 2013 pool season will be in full force as sun-kissed patrons flock to the ultra pool and “Welcome Home” the highly acclaimed artist as he launches the first date of his of his daytime residency. The “We Found Love” DJ will transform the adults-only summer playground as he takes over the newly renovated DJ booth, spins his iconic hits and leaves daylife revelers dancing until dusk. Harris is scheduled to play a total of 22 dates at the Vegas pool party destination.
DJ, songwriter and producer Harris first hit the music scene with hisgold-selling album I Created Disco in 2006. Originally from Scotland, he has since gained worldwide attention for his work in the electronic scene. Harris has been recognized with multiple awards, including winning Best Electronic Video for “Feel So Close” and Video of the Year for “We Found Love” with Rihanna at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. He also took home a Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video at the recent 2013 Grammy Awards. Additionally, he was nominated for “Best British Male” at the BRIT Awards in 2010 and 2013 and was named the “World’s Most Successful Songwriter” in 2011 and 2012 by Music Week. Harris has worked in various capacities with a number of internationally known recording artists including Rihanna, Florence Welch, Ellie Goulding, Dizzee Rascal, Cheryl Cole and Kylie Minogue. Wet Republic is an alluring 53,000-square-foot venue comprised of large saltwater pools, intimate dipping pools, daybed, banquets, tricked-out Bungalows and Party Cabanas. The adult pool destination features an open-air covered lounge serving as a place to mix, mingle, dance and dine.
