Vegas Hiking Exploration on a Budget

There is little that is completely free in Las Vegas, yet many Fresno locals love visiting Las Vegas. Here is how to enjoy Las Vegas on a shoe string budget. Step one is to rent a car. You can go to off-brand car rental companies such as EZ car and rent a car for four days for as little as $100. Combine this with some of the discount plane fares from Fresno and if there is only 1 or 2 in your group visiting Las Vegas this may be less expensive than driving. Based on experience it can easily cost over $150 round trip in gas to drive from Fresno to Las Vegas if you have an SUV and use the air conditioner.

Once in Las Vegas a great free option is hiking around Hoover Dam. Hoover Dam is an amazing engineering feat. There is a multitude of hiking trails for you to explore around the dam and yo can even walk on the bridge over the dam for free. Parking is free if you park in one of the hiking parking lots instead of the parking lot by the visitor's center at Hoover Dam.

The next option is Red Rock National Park. Although it costs approximately $7 per vehicle to enter the park, there are a multitude of areas on the way to the park to park for free, no pun intended. Park in one of these lots and you then then hike through the park for free.

Another option is Ethel's Chocolate Cactus Garden. This is in Henderson and is free. You not only get to tour the factory for free but you also can hike through amazing cactus gardens and also get a free chocolate sample.

Last but not least is the Henderson Bird Park which is completely free and has over a dozen miles of free trails for hiking or roller blading.
