One of the most difficult tasks when planning a wedding and its following reception is deciding the menu for the night's festivities. Reception meal planning can be difficult for any couple, but all the more so for a vegetarian or vegan couple.

Some vegetarian and vegan couples (or one-half of a couple) may choose to host a completely vegan or vegetarian reception, while others want to make sure everyone invited is comfortable and familiar with the selection of morsels provided.

If you are planning on hosting a reception dinner in which both vegetarian/vegan and non-vegetarian options will be served and you're planning on having your wedding catered in the Los Angeles area, here are a few websites and places to visit that may help you in your search for the perfect dishes:

  • Eco Caters This cute and humble joint offers plenty of selections that both meat-eaters and vegetarians will love, and it's all eco-friendly and includes only locally grown and organic ingredients- serves both the Los Angeles and San Diego areas.
  • Tres LA A chic and slightly pricier option (Served the Clintons!) this catering service has a wide selection of Hors d'oeuvres, and full-service vegetarian, vegan, and meat menus to choose from.
  • Native Foods an all-vegan eatery started nearly twenty-years ago and is a staple of Los Angeles Valley foodies. They cater and have cool starters like Saigon rolls and Nachos. This is especially recommended for smaller receptions (fifty and under total guests).

If the idea of seeking out particular food establishments that are eco-friendly or vegan-friendly to cater your after-party is too daunting, you may also consider going with any catering company that does a lot of appetizers, salads, soups, and party-bar deals. You can ask your caterer if it's possible to pick and choose party-bar or buffet options that you know all of your guests can eat and enjoy. Try fresh fruit and vegetable options, breads, salads, soups, mini-deserts, etc., and everyone will be pleased.
