Vegan summer potluck series gains ground Downriver

VeggiePatti has partnered with Total Health Foods in Wyandotte again to bring more vegan options to the Downriver area. The goal of the potlucks are to allow vegans and veg-curious folks to share camaraderie, meals, advice, and recipes.

The series started with a vegan dessert and ice cream social featuring an all vegan sundae bar and desserts such as raw banana cream caramel pie, lemon cake, and vegan cookies. The second potluck was a vegan barbeque featuring veggie dogs, potato salad, stuffed squash, gazpacho, and various side salads. This potluck was a big hit with families and kids!

The last in the summer series is a raw food potluck on Sunday, August 24 from 1-3 pm. This potluck will feature all raw food and celebrates the wonderful fresh bounty obtained from local markets by transforming the produce into healthy and energizing dishes. All are welcome and everyone is asked to bring a dish that serves at least 8. Dishes should be vegan, gluten-free, and raw.

If you miss the summer potluck series, make sure to plan to attend the Very Vegan Thanksgiving potluck on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. This year's event will be the 4th annual event and features vegan, gluten-free vegan, and raw Thanksgiving dishes. What started out as a very small gathering of people has grown to a signature event with over 40 attendees. For more information about the potlucks, watch this episode of Here's to Your Health on Alternative Holiday Meals.

The potlucks are held at the Total Health Foods Juice Bar in Wyandotte. For more information, contact VeggiePatti or join Adventures in Veganland on Facebook.
