Robin Quivers recently revealed her battle against pelvic cancer, including her belief that her vegan diet helped. The sidekick for Howard Stern, Robin will appear on Dr. Mehmet Oz's talk show on October 7 to discuss her cancer, diet and new book, reported the Orlando Sentinel on October 4.
Included in her talk with Dr. Oz: Details about how her plant-based diet restored her health. Robin has authored a book that includes both recipes and how she struggled with food before going vegan: "The Vegucation of Robin: How Real Food Saved My Life" (click for additional details).
In addition to talking about cancer and diet, Robin will open up about why she was silent for so long about her battle.
"You can't possibly do a comedy show every day when people are worried if you're going to be there the next day," she declares. "So we just decided we're just going to shut up and we're just going to go on, and the audience honored that request."
Robin also credits Howard Stern for helping her survive the ordeal.
"He immediately said, 'Oh, Robin, what are we going to do? How are we, what will we, who do we know? What can we do to get you better?" she recalled.
"And it became a 'we' project from that moment on, and so every day, he was on the phone with me. He was helping me to get my team together so that I could get the proper treatment and he was with me every step of the way. He helped me make decisions. He listened to me. He cried with me. We did everything together through this."
Visiting the "Today show" on October 3, Robin summed up how she feels now.
"I feel fantastic," she told Matt Lauer. "I've been declared cancer free for about three or four months now. It's just a matter of still recovering at home, past all that treatment that kept me out of the studio for this long. But I've been feeling really good."
