Have you sworn off pumpkin pie, at least for a season or two, but still have canned pumpkin in your cupboard? Try making a pumpkin smoothie. Canned pumpkin has been called a superfood for its high beta-carotene quotient. In one cup of canned pumpkin, you’ll get 3 grams of protein and 7 grams of fat in only 80 calories. You’ll also get more than half your recommended daily value of vitamin K.

I used my powerful new Tribest Dynablend Horsepower Plus to whip up this smoothie. It cuts through ice cubes nicely for an extra-smooth smoothie.


½ cup pumpkin

1 frozen banana

1 cup unsweetened soy milk (or almond, hemp, etc)

½ cup ice

1 tsp vanilla

½ tsp pumpkin pie spice

1 tsp molasses

Dump everything in your blender and mix for about a minute, or until even the ice has broken up.
