I have been researching global warming and the negative impact the USDA and a meat based diet have on this problem. I feel seriously warranted to expose this deviant livestock industry and the disasters which are now presenting themselves to be factual as they enter the beginning of conceptional formations.
"Various gases from animal waste are all major sources of factory farm air pollution, and particulate matter and bacterial toxins found in high concentrations at and around industrialized animal facilities have caused serious respiratory and cardiac disorders. The ammonia from waste slurry lagoons also breeds bacteria, which creates acid that evaporates and combines with nitrous oxide from fertilizers and industrial pollution to form nitric acid rain—which leaches nutrients from the soil, despoils forest habitats, and kills fish by releasing toxic minerals from the earth that flow into aquatic ecosystems. Even though agricultural fertilizer emissions are the leading cause of nitric acid rain (after motor vehicles and coal plants), they remain virtually unregulated in the U.S.In addition, animal agriculture is responsible for more than half of humanity's total greenhouse gas emissions35 (largely created by using arable land to grow food for animals, animal belching and flatulence, and chemical emanations from manure). This includes 37 percent of anthropogenic (i.e., human-made) methane, and methane gas is 23 times more potent a climate change agent than carbon dioxide.36 Yet, despite factory farming's leading role in the climate change crisis, the EPA does not currently have the authority to regulate the U.S. livestock industry's greenhouse gas emissions."http://www.foodispower.org/pollution-water-air-chemicals/
We are aware we must insist on alternate energy sources and the end of the USDA's savage Meat Industry is the front runner. Fortified with their criterion of deception to garnish huge fortunes by any venue possible, they are responsible for the largest, most egregious industry now functioning This presenting with the use of animals as commodities known as livestock.
Their bodily emissions, such as burping and the expelling of intestinal gas from their anus contribute, by percentage, to be the greatest offender of air pollution. Their waste by products are polluting not only the air but also have permeated our fresh water supply.
"Giant livestock farms, which can house hundreds of thousands of pigs, chickens, or cows, produce vast amounts of manure, often generating the waste equivalent of a small city. A problem of this nature and scale is tough to imagine, and pollution from livestock farms seriously threatens humans, fish and ecosystems." http://www.nrdc.org/water/pollution/ffarms.asp
Our globe has between. 01 to. 02% fresh water on the entire planet. Almost all life forms thrive on fresh water, not salt water. Not only must we include the livestock industry as polluters but also gluttons, using vast amount of this water. Its time they stop this self indulgent money machine. We must become emphatic about our concerns and insist that they cease using animals as commodities, end this archaic industry and become focused on the production of vegetation for human consumption.
"In a groundbreaking 2006 report, the United Nations (U.N.) confirmed that raising animals for food generates more greenhouse gases than all the cars, trucks, SUVs, planes, and ships in the world combined. Senior U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization official Henning Steinfeld reported that the meat industry is “one of the most significant contributors to today’s most serious environmental problems.”
Carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide together cause the vast majority of global warming. Raising animals for food is one of the largest sources of carbon dioxide and the single largest source of both methane and nitrous oxide emissions. A recent University of Chicago report determined that going vegan is 50% more effective than switching from a standard American car to a hybrid".http://www.opposingviews.com/arguments/animal-agriculture-causes-global-....
As we approach the cessation of fossil fuels and the carbon chain as our industrial fortress and economic base new venues must be acquired. With the global population now at about 7 billion humans, our water supply is going to be depleted unless we carefully manage it, curbing these greed mongers actions.Their indifference to these forthcoming problems, their self absorption, arrogance and abstruseness is quite the paradigm.
One serious concern is the encroaching warming of our ocean's waters. The floor of the ocean, which in itself is only a thin crust, is an unexpected revelation. As the oceans' temperatures rise, and we're talking a mere two to four degrees, fissures and wide splitting of the ocean floor shall occur causing irreversible disintegration. This warming will cause methane gas, now precariously frozen underneath the sea floor to thaw and return to a gaseous state. This gas, once released, will enter our atmosphere quite rapidly. it doesn't take much deducing to conclude how seriously this will affect global warming and its negative impact life on our planet.
"Critically pressurized volumes of methane gas exist below many methane hydrate deposits, resulting in a potentially unstable ocean floor that is highly sensitive to changing conditions. Hornbach says any change in temperature or pressure at these critically pressured gas sites can cause hydrate to convert into methane gas. The highly pressurized gas can cause faults in the ocean floor to break apart, allowing the gas to escape.
"It's like a cork in a champagne bottle," he says. "If you shake up the champagne and build up enough pressure, the champagne bubbles can pop the cork."
Because these critically pressured gas volumes are found worldwide, Hornbach says large quantities of methane could be released during a global warming event.
"It is well documented that bottom-water temperatures in the ocean increase by approximately 5 degrees centigrade during periods of global warming," Hornbach says. "Our study indicates that perhaps as much as 2,000 gigatons (a single gigaton is one billion tons) of methane gas might escape from the ocean into the atmosphere during such warming events."
The UW scientists also contend that massive underwater landslides -- the relics of which sprawl across continental margins -- may be the direct result of ocean floor failures caused by over pressured methane gas."http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2004/01/040113080810.htm
This epitomizes just how tedious and multifaceted are the problems we will be encountering. This is just one of a myriad of situations causing air pollution. Global warming is serious and all encompassing in its wrath.
"We all hear about how Polar Bears are decreasing at an unruly rate due to the climate change all around the world. But did you know there are many more animals with the same fate? With pollutants in the air, land and sea, it has become hard to live a safe life for anyone. Climate change not only is hitting the arctic with the Polar Bears, Emperor Penguin and seals, it’s also hitting those in the warmer climate areas as well.
The Arctic is ground zero for climate change and we are pushing many species to extinction. The key to preventing their loss is the reduction of emissions of greenhouse gases. Specifically carbon dioxide, a level of 350 ppm or less is the ideal level at which leading scientists believe they can restore the Arctic sea ice.
Other animals listed as most endanger from climate change is a wide range from land to sea and in between – just look at the list! Leatherback sea turtles, Staghorn Coral, Emperor Penguins, Beluga Whale, Koalas, Salmon. ) “Climate change is no longer a distant threat on the horizon,” said Leda Huta, the executive director of the Endangered Species Coalition. “It has arrived and is threatening ecosystems that we all depend upon, and our endangered species are particularly vulnerable.” http://www.isfoundation.com/news/creatures/endangered-wildlife-climate-c...
I personally find their continuous actions to be venal, indolent and apparently so deeply rooted as to appear to be hermetically sealed from any rhetoric or constructive discussions or changes.
We can and should chose a vegan diet and reduce the number of animals now contributing to global warming. This is the healthiest choice for humans and equally important it is the kindest and morally proper choice to end this egregious and insidious industry where live sentient beings are used for commodities.
This is our challenge to insist on a pragmatic assimilation of solutions to these future problems using abject realities indigenous to our continued ability to thrive and disrupt this plague of cronyism. We act now or face extinction of life on this planet.
