If you are a vegan in the Kansas City area and need to find a place to go enjoy a delightfully delicious meal with your omnivore friends and family members, try the Red Snapper at 8430 Ward Parkway Plaza, Kansas City, MO 64114. The vegan gluten-free meal in the accompanying photo consists of steamed edamame pods for an appetizer and spicy basil stir fry with white rice for the main course, along with tropical green tea. The spicy basil stir fry includes fresh Thai basil, red bell peppers, bamboo shoots, asparagus, broccoli, sugar peas, and jalapeno peppers with tofu.

The Red Snapper menu features not only this Thai dish but also other pan Asian entrees and appetizers, such as Korean, Vietnamese, Japanese, Polynesian, and Chinese. The wait staff is very attentive and helpful and seems to understand both vegan and gluten-free. The portions are so large that you will likely have a nice container of leftovers to take for lunch the next day at work.

For those vegans who are not so fond of spicy, the Red Snapper also serves a good bean curd with vegetables and several other dishes that you can order with tofu instead of meat or chicken or fish. Such base sauces or dishes include stir-fried black bean, sautéed basil, sautéed broccoli, kung pao, classic Mandarin, spicy Korean, Thai coconut red curry, red chili twist, ma po tofu, kun pun tofu, and sautéed sea cucumber in a ginger garlic brown sauce. With the noodle dishes, such as pad Thai noodle, pan-fried noodle, and lo mein noodle, watch out for the eggs and gluten if you are vegan and gluten-free. The yaki soba Japanese buckwheat noodle dish appears to be both vegan and gluten-free.

When you enter the restaurant, enjoy the fascinating bubble fish tanks display complete with gold fish.
