Vaughn Occupational H.S. - a shining star in Chicago’s public school system

Vaughn is a very special high school on Chicago’s north side at 4355 N Linder Ave. The school offers students with mild to moderate cognitive disabilities, a modified curriculum that teaches students through individualized, functional academics, emphasizing occupational development and independence, with a focus on social and emotional growth.

According to the CPS website, there are 230 students enrolled at Vaughn HS with 100.0% in special education, 92.2% considered low income students and 25.2% as limited English learners.

The principal is Clyde Russell Burnette Jr. and he runs a well managed school with a postive, supportive atmosphere.
