Vaudeville Mews hosts Iowa City Song Project show on February 28

Downtown Des Moines music venue Vaudeville Mews will host several of the bands featured on the recent Iowa City Song Project release tomorrow night. The showcase will feature performances from The Poison Control Center, Christopher the Conquered, Brooks Strause, Mumford's, and Alex Body. Doors at Vaudeville Mews will open at 7:30 p.m., and the show is scheduled to start at 8:00 p.m. The showcase will have a $7 cover charge at the door, and you have to be 21 or older to attend.

The Iowa City Song Project was released on Maximum Ames Records in November of last year in an effort to celebrate 100 years of performances at the Englert Theatre. The project contained 31 songs commissioned from various Iowa artists. Those in attendance at the showcase on Thursday may purchase the 20-song Iowa City Song Project double LP (that also comes with a download that gets you the other 11 bonus tracks) for $20 ($5 of the regular price). The project is also available on a single CD and in full download format through Maximum Ames Records.
