It's a new trend.

It's called a "Twitter Takeover."

In this fast-paced social media world, what's a Twitter takeover?

A "Twitter Takeover" is having a celebrity or "known" person tweet from a master account during a game or part of a day, that brings a celebrity’s fans to that Twitter account for the "takeover." It gives fans of that account even more reason to follow that Twitter account and the live commentary on Twitter.

Reigning Wimbledon Gentlemen's Doubles champion (with Jack Sock), Vaskek Pospisil took over the BB&T Atlanta Open's Twitter account (@bbtatlantaopen)on Monday, July 21, to answer fan's questions about himself, tennis, the 2014 BB&T Atlanta Open or anything else.

Each Twitter Takeover uses a unique hashtag, in this case it was #AskPops.

It all started with this tweet:

@BBTatlantaopen @VasekPospisil is taking over the @BBTatlantaopen twitter account around 2:15 PM today. Use #AskPop to send in your questions!

Then the questions came, here were some of the best and Vasek's answers:

@LC_YVR @BBTatlantaopen There are so many team nicknames for you & Jack. Do you prefer one over another? #askPop #popsockle #popsock #vasocktemy
@BBTatlantaopen @LC_YVR Ha ha! I like a lot of them. Favorite ones are probably "popsock" and "popsockle"

Then a question on when he started playing tennis.

@Connor_Sisson when did you start playing tennis? #AskPop
@BBTatlantaopen @Connor_Sisson I started playing with my dad and brothers when I was 5. My dad coached me for 13 years.

After a few more insightful questions and answers, Pospisil had a practice court waiting for him.

@BBTatlantaopen Thanks for all your tweets, guys! Wish I could do more but I have to hit the practice courts- @VasekPospisil

I have to say, sitting right in front of Vasek, he was having fun with the takeover.

It's a great way, for in this case, a tennis player to interact with fans. It's also a chance for an event like the BB&T Atlanta to get more followers and more people following the action throughout the week.

That is what social media is all about.
