You’ve probably figured out by now that almost every weekend in Denver is a great weekend for live music gigs—but as you’ll see by this weekend’s picks, some of Denver’s best local acts have come out all at once. Here are just a few of the more promising shows being played by local Denver bands this weekend.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Local funk-rock band Bop Skizzum is hosting the 1st Annual "Nerd Prom" at Gothic Theatre, 3263 S. Broadway in Englewood. Also appearing are Broken Tongues, Della and Wheelchair Sports Camp. Tickets are $13, available from Gothic Theatre; service charge may apply. Doors at 7:00 PM; show starts at 8:00. Ages 16+.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Denver indie-rockers Achille Lauro are playing at the Hi-Dive, 7 S. Broadway in Denver, along with Mercuria and the Gemstars and Land Lines. Tickets are $10 each, plus service charge, available from Hi-Dive. Doors at 9:00 PM; show starts at 10:00. Ages 21+.
FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHTS: The Vinefield Agency is hosting a 2-night Valentine’s Ball at the Meadowlark Bar, 2701 Larimer St. in Denver. The event features a great lineup of local acts both nights: Flashbulb Fires, Sauna, The Don’ts and Be Carefuls and The Yawpers on Friday; and Take to the Oars, Antennas Up, Caleb Slade and Kyle James Houser on Saturday. Cover is $7 per evening, or $10 for both nights. Doors at 8:00 PM both nights. Ages 21+.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Local rock band Snake Rattle Rattle Snake is headlining a show at the Hi-Dive, 7 S. Broadway in Denver. Also appearing are Mancub and Men in Burka. Tickets are $10 each, available from Hi-Dive; service charge may apply. Doors at 9:00; show starts at 10:00. Ages 21+.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Local indie-rock band Varlet is headlining at The Walnut Room, 3131 Walnut Street in Denver. Opening acts include The Belle Jar and Chella Negro. Tickets are $6 advance, $9 day of show, available from the Walnut Room. Service charge may apply. Doors at 7:00 PM. Ages 21+.
