The Children’s Charity, Variety of St. Louis, has been a huge support for special needs kids of St. Louis for close to 80 years. Variety has a strong bond and an exquisite history in this community, and St. Louis can rely on Variety to care for their children. Over time Variety has advanced and has become a big part of the lives of St. Louis children.
On May 7, 2011, Variety hosted their Dinner With the Stars during Variety Week 2011. Variety’s yearly Dinner with the Stars featured Joe Buck and Patti LaBelle. This was Variety’s 45th yearly Dinner with the Stars. The affair brought in $1,261, 925, and the pledges for the Special equipment was an astonishing $337,125. Variety’s goal was to bring in $250,000 for the Special equipment.
The total amount that was raised at the Dinner with the Stars was an amazing $3,349,591. Because of the contributions that are made to Variety, 14,000 children a year are able to receive help from Variety.
Variety’s next event is the Variety Children’s Theater Auditions coming up on Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15, 2011 at the Community Music School at Webster University in St. Louis. During the tryouts and the production, the children learn about on-stage production and backstage production artistry from trained artists. The comprehensive perspective gives the children an unique opportunity to acquire valuable friendships, gain talents, and to be able to appreciate the general functioning’s of an actual musical theater production.
The 2011 Production will be the Wizard of Oz which will be performed on October 21- 23, 2011, at the Touhill Performing Arts Center at the University of Missouri, St. Louis. Children of Every ability are invited to the audition. Ages for the auditions are from ages 7 to 16.
