"The Icons & Idols Auction," coming up this week by Darren Julien Auctioneers on Dec. 3-4, includes several items from the Beatles..
The items include self-portraits made for friends, a collage John Lennon created for Elton John’s 28th birthday, drawings that appeared in Lennon’s 1965 book "A Spaniard in the Works," and a Lennon jacket rescued by a Salvation Army driver. Lennon is shown in the jacket on the cover of the auction's catalog. Also featured is the acetate for the John Lennon and Yoko Ono "Wedding Album" record.
The jacket, worn by Lennon in 1966 for a Life magazine photo shoot, is similar to one later used for the "Sgt. Pepper" album cover. According to the auctioneer, it was a military band jacket in the possession of Lennon until donated to the Salvation Army in New York.
Also featured in the auction are items from Michael Jackson, Ron Wood of the Rolling Stones, Marilyn Monroe, Keith Richards, Elvis Presley, Madonna, Cher and Bruce Springsteen.

The items are being displayed from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day at Julien's Auctions, 9665 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 150, Beverly Hills, CA. The auction will take place beginning at 10 a.m. Dec. 3-4. An additional auction spotlighting items of Johnny Cash will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 5.
