"Wheel of Fortune" letter turner Vanna White's teenage son Nikko has reportedly joined the Hare Krishna religious cult and is is believed that he has been "brainwashed" according to Tuesday, September 3 reports from Radar Online.
White's son is a sophomore at the University of Arizona and has reportedly been lead into the cult after meeting Jaycee Akinsanyaas , a 34-year-old freshman at the university.
The celebrity news site reveals that Nikko and Akinsanyaas are now living together, and that Nikko has asked his parents to give his new found friend $million to help the group build a new ashram.
Vanna White and her ex-husband and Nikko's father George Santo Pietro have firmly stated that they would not be financially supporting the Hare Krishna cult.
Sources close to Vanna White and family revealed:
“Since then Akinsanyaas has been reminding Nikko that he should follow his own path and advance his spiritual life. It’s like Akinsanyaas is trying to brainwash him!”
One cult expert and author by the name of Nori Muster explained:
“They pressure members to reject family members and friends and even quit their jobs to live in the temple full time and serve the guru.
“They also pressure members into giving their inheritances, bank accounts and material possessions to the guru.”
White's son Nikko claims that he has not been brainwashed and is making the choice to build his own life, he also denies asking his parents for money for the cult:
"The money I asked for was for my living expenses — food, gas and for living my spiritual life with Jaycee.”
